2. Data Collected and Purposes of Processing
2.1 Website (polizei-kontrollen.de)
When you visit our website, the following data is automatically collected:
• IP address (anonymized after session)
• Date and time of access
• Pages visited
• Data transferred
• Browser, operating system and device type
• Referrer URL
This data is processed solely for the technical provision and security of the website. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).
2.2 User Account (App & Website)
When you create a user account, we collect the following data:
• Username
• Email address
• Encrypted password
This data is used to provide the user account, login service and personalized features. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract).
You can delete your account at any time directly in the app. The deletion option is available in the iOS or Android app under Settings → Delete Account. Upon deletion, all stored account data as well as your reports and comments will be permanently removed. Alternatively, you may request deletion by emailing info@polizei-kontrollen.de.
2.3 Location Data (Apps)
Our mobile apps (iOS & Android) use the GPS location of your device exclusively for:
• Displaying speed cameras and controls near you
• Automatic warnings in drive mode
• Creating new reports with location reference
Location data is processed locally on your device and is not permanently stored on our servers. Location is only accessed during active app use. In drive mode, the app may access location in the background if you have explicitly permitted this. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).
2.4 Reports and Comments
When you create a report or comment, the following data is stored:
• Location of the report (coordinates and address)
• Report type and description
• Username of the creator
• Time of creation
• Uploaded images (for comments, if applicable)
This data is visible to other users. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
2.5 Image Uploads (Comments & Profile Pictures)
Users may upload images as part of comments and set a profile picture. These image files are stored on our own servers (see Section 2a) and are visible to other users of the platform. No data is shared with third parties. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract). You can delete uploaded images at any time via your user account or request deletion by contacting us at info@polizei-kontrollen.de.
2.6 Push Notifications
Our iOS and Android apps offer optional push notifications, for example for new reports near you or replies to your comments. The following services are used to deliver push notifications:
• iOS: Apple Push Notification Service (APNs), Apple Inc., One Apple Park Way, Cupertino, CA 95014, USA
• Android: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA
A device-specific push token is transmitted to the respective service. This token is stored by us in pseudonymized form and used solely for sending notifications. Push notifications can be disabled at any time in the app or operating system settings. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).
2.7 Email Notifications
We send transactional emails to the email address provided during registration. This includes in particular:
• Replies to support tickets
• Notifications regarding fine notices (if you use this feature)
• System messages and account notifications (e.g. password changes)
Emails are sent via our own server infrastructure (see Section 2a). Your email address is not used for marketing purposes. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in communicating with users).
2.8 Fine Notice Upload and Referral to Partner Law Firm
In our app, you can upload a fine notice to receive an initial legal assessment. Processing takes place in the following steps:
Step 1 – Internal review by our team: The uploaded notice is first reviewed by our team for completeness and suitability. The data contained in the notice (in particular name, address, date of birth, vehicle data, alleged offence, case reference number and authority details) is stored on our servers (see Section 2a) during this process. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).
Step 2 – Referral for legal review: If our team approves the submission, the notice is forwarded to our partner law firm for legal assessment. The firm analyses the case and provides a recommendation (appeal recommended / not recommended). The law firm processes your data as an independent data controller.
Step 3 – Instruction of the law firm (only upon explicit request): If you decide to proceed with the case after receiving the recommendation and give your explicit consent, your data will be transferred to Kanzlei CleverLaw GbR to establish a client relationship. From that point, the law firm's own privacy policy applies. Legal basis for the transfer: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). No data is shared without your explicit consent.

2a. Hosting and Server Infrastructure
Our website and the associated API are operated on servers of HostingTime GmbH:

As HostingTime GmbH is both the technical operator and the data controller (see Section 1), all data processing takes place within our own infrastructure without the involvement of external hosting providers. All data is stored and processed exclusively on servers located in Germany.
2.9 Contact Form
A contact form is available on our website. When using it, we collect the following data:
• Name
• Email address
• Your message
This data is used solely to process your enquiry and to respond to you. It is not shared with third parties. The data is deleted once your enquiry has been fully processed, unless statutory retention obligations apply. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to user enquiries).
3. Premium Subscription
The PoKo App offers an optional premium subscription. Payment is processed exclusively through the respective app store:
• iOS: Apple App Store (Apple Inc., One Apple Park Way, Cupertino, CA 95014, USA)
• Android: Google Play Store (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA)
We only receive confirmation that a purchase was made and the associated premium status. Payment data (e.g. credit card details) is neither collected nor stored by us.
4. Advertising in the App
The free version of our apps (iOS & Android) contains advertisements provided by Google AdMob. Provider: Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. The following data may be processed in connection with advertising:
• Device ID (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android)
• Approximate location
• Usage behavior within the app
With a Premium subscription, no advertisements are displayed and no data is processed for advertising purposes. For more information on data processing by Google AdMob, please visit: policies.google.com/privacy. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent via app store dialog).
5. Google Maps (Website & Android App)
Our website and Android app use the Google Maps mapping service. Provider: Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
When using Google Maps, your IP address is transmitted to Google. On our website, Google Maps is only loaded after your explicit consent (cookie banner). More information: policies.google.com/privacy. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).
6. Apple Maps (iOS App)
The iOS app uses Apple Maps for the map view. Provider: Apple Inc., One Apple Park Way, Cupertino, CA 95014, USA. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/privacy.
7. Facebook Integration
Our website links to Facebook pages of our community (44 city pages and the main page "Polizeikontrollen Deutschland"). When clicking these links, the privacy policy of Meta Platforms Ireland Limited applies. We operate these Facebook pages and automatically publish reports from our platform there.
8. Telegram
We operate Telegram channels (including "Blitzer & Polizeikontrollen Deutschland", "Polizeikontrollen Hamburg", "Polizeikontrollen Stuttgart") where reports from our platform are automatically published. Telegram's privacy policy applies.
9. Retention Period
We store your data only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes:
• User account data: until account deletion
• Reports and comments: until manual or automatic deletion
• Server log data: maximum 7 days
• Location data: not permanently stored
• Fine notices: 3 years after the process is concluded, then automatically deleted
• Contact enquiries: until the enquiry has been fully processed
10. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
• Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
• Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
• Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

Withdrawal of consent: Where processing of your data is based on consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR). The lawfulness of processing carried out prior to the withdrawal is not affected. You can withdraw your consent by emailing info@polizei-kontrollen.de or, where technically possible, directly in the app settings (e.g. by disabling push notifications).

11. Data Security
Our website and API use exclusively HTTPS connections (TLS encryption). Passwords are stored exclusively in encrypted form (bcrypt) and are not visible to us.

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy as needed to comply with current legal requirements or changes to our services. The current version is always available on this page.
